#ENDSARS: 'Lekki Wasn't The First Time Army Attacked Peaceful Protesters', Aisha Yesufu Says As She Recounts First Attack

One of the front liners of the #EndSARS protest Aisha Yesufu has revealed that the October 20 Lekki massacre wasn't the first time the army would attack the peaceful #EndSARS protesters.

Aisha Yesufu who took to her Twitter page to make this revelation said that the attack on the peaceful #EndSARS protesters first happened at the National Assembly in Abuja.

According to Yesufu, the army attacked protesters on the directive of the commander-in-chief.

" Lekki Toll Gate wasn't the first time military attacked #EndSARS protesters. They started at National Assembly Abuja. Sent by their Commander-in-chief to kill and maim #BlameGovernment," she tweeted.

It will be recalled that youths across the different states of the federation early October took to the streets to call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police force.

While the government promised to address the demands of the youths; the youths, however, vowed not to back down from the protest until they saw that the government had begun working to meet their demands.

On October 20, 2020, men of the Nigerian army opened fire on peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate killing some protesters and leaving some others injured.

While the army initially denied being at the scene as at the time of the attack, they later admitted being at the scene of the shooting on the request of the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, but denied opening fire on the peaceful protesters.
