#EndSARS: Police Officer Who Shot Woman In The Mouth Declared Wanted

A Nigerian Police officer identified as Sgt. Eze Aiwansoba of the Special Protection Unit, Base 16, Ikeja who shot his girlfriend, Isioma Joy Ndubueze in the mouth at Salvation bus-stop, Opebi area on Thursday has been declared wanted.

AllNews reports that in the viral video shared online, Sgt. Eze Aiwansoba who was off-duty shot through the young woman’s mouth, tearing her cheeks.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital by passersby and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

Speaking on the matter, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that the fleeing policeman, who is attached to another police formation within the state, be arrested by all means and made to face the consequences of his criminal act. 

While the Commissioner of Police condemns the act, the command will not in any way leave any stone unturned in getting justice for the victim and sustain the ethics and Standard Operating Procedure of the Nigeria Police Force; and protect the fundamental human rights of all and sundry across the state.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has appealed to all Lagosians especially protesters across the state, to maintain law and order while they embark on peaceful protests as the police will do everything possible not to infringe on their rights. 

AllNews understands that the shooting is coming on the heels of several protests in Lagos against the brutality of Police and the operations of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in the state.

Recounting what may have led to the sour breakup between the lovers, the older brother, Ndubueze Nelly James said the couple have been together for almost two years and planning to get married in December 2020. But things went sour after Joy broke up with Eze (the police officer) last week following an allegation of domestic abuse.

In his words, “She has been seeing signs of domestic abuse and lies. They were living together and were having a lot of issues.

“After reaching out reached out to relatives and even their pastor for counseling and nothing seems to change, she decided to pack out and broke up with him.

“But it looks like Eze had made up his mind that it’s either him or death. He decided to end things in his own way by taking advantage of his career/uniform and the resources at his disposal."
