#ENDSARS: Pro-Biafra Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Of IPOB Tackles Dreaded Controversial Unit Of Nigeria Police Force

#ENDSARS: Pro-Biafra Leader, Nnamdi Kanu Of IPOB Tackles Dre

As Nigerians by means of the #EndSARS hashtag continue to create awareness on police brutality such as extortion, rape, physical and verbal assault, extrajudicial killings, wanton arrests, and other forms of intimidation tactics against young innocent citizens, Biafra political activist, Nnamdi Kanu has warned that "the hour of consequences for all perpetrators is at hand", AllNews reports.

AllNews understands that self-exiled Kanu's Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), an outlawed group, is canvassing for the secession and sovereignty of Eastern Nigeria.

It would be recalled that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State alongside other concerned Nigerians recently called for a reformation or outright dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) unit of the Nigeria Police.

This follows the reported killing of a youth corps member identified as Miss Stella Ifeoma Abugu.

Abugu was reported to have died in police custody in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city, a day after she was arrested by SARS operatives in place of her boyfriend, Afam Ugwunwa, whom the SARS officers came to arrest for an undisclosed offence.

Another recent incident is the killing of two young boys who were reportedly chased to death in Osun.

AllNews reports that SARS has a long history of harassing Nigerian youths and incriminating them by planting evidence in a bid to extort them.

Since SARS became a fully-adapted police unit and social media became a relatively safe space to report incidents, stories of the killings of innocent Nigerians have overshadowed any positive news from the unit. There are many gory tales of their horrific operations targeting innocent Nigerians.

In the same vein, an Igbo Socio-Cultural Organisation, Igbonine Kwezuenu, threatened to drag the Nigeria police to the International Court of Justice, over the alleged constant killing of Igbo youths clamouring for the independent Biafra Republic, as well as having the majority of the youths on the wanted list of the police for no just cause.
