Reno Omokri has praised late Nigerian singer Sound Sultan for his personal sacrifice at the EndSARS protests a year ago, adding that President Muhammadu Buhari did the exact opposite when his people needed him.
It's been an eventful day as online reports are rife with the experiences of those who went out to mark what happened on October 20, 2020, when lives were lost at the Lekki toll gate, Lagos.
Amid the arrests and comments surrounding the memorial protests, Reno Omokri recalled how Sound Sultan joined protesters a year ago despite his health condition.

Sultan died of throat cancer on July 11, 2021, and Omokri's words are a reminder that the artiste was already battling the ailment as at the time he partook in the protests.

Omokri wrote that the late singer knew about his health yet he put that aside to fight for his fellow citizens. He added that President Buhari was sick and "ran to London for 6 months" as against the former who chose to associate with the people.
He said: "And to think that Sound Sultan knew about his health condition, yet he sacrificed his comfort to fight for the common man. What an uncommon man.
President Muhammadu Buhari
"Buhari was sick and he ran to London for 6 months. In a similar situation, this young man chose to associate with the people.
"Whenever a sane regime rises to power, this photo should be put on Nigeria’s stamp."
