President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration has set up a committee made up of Governors from the six geo-political zones to address the deeper issues behind the #ENDSARS protest.

Set up during a virtual emergency National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by Vice President Yomi Osinbajo on Monday, the Council did not name  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State as part of the Governors on the panel.

The Committee which will be chaired by Osinbajo has Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi, Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, and Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa as members.

The Federal Government explained that the governors selected on the panel will represent each of the six geo-political zones.

"Today Vice President @ProfOsinbajo chaired a virtual emergency National Economic Council (NEC) Meeting. NEC resolved that the deeper issues behind the ENDSARS protests and its fallouts should be addressed by both the Federal and State Governments.

"To this end, a NEC committee to engage the youths, representatives of Civil Society Organizations, religious and traditional leaders on employment, social safety net programmes and national unity among other key issues of concern has been constituted.

"The Committee will be chaired by the Vice President. Members are State Governors representing the 6 geopolitical zones: Governor of Sokoto State Governor of Borno Statae Governor of Niger State Governor of Ondo State Governor of Ebonyi State Governor of Delta State

"The Committee will develop a comprehensive framework to coordinate joint actions & steps to be taken by Federal & State Govts to examine the fundamental issues underlining the ENDSARS protests & arrive at effective solutions, including how to enhance Nigeria’s national security,"  tweet by @NGRPresident read.
