#ENDSARS: Tension Brews As Sowore Others Call For Continuation Of Protest Despite Police Threat

#ENDSARS: Tension Brews As Sowore Others Call For Continuati

As a new week approaches, a fresh tension has hit the atmosphere as the publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore has called for a fresh protest following the alleged continued intimidation of #EndSARS protesters by the Nigerian Government.

Sowore's call for protesters to return to the streets is coming after the recent arrest of #EndSARS protesters in Abuja and the move by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze the bank accounts of front-liners of the #EndSARS protest.

Taking to his Twitter page to call for a fresh protest, Sowore who said that President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had commenced the second wave of repression, called on #EndSARS protesters to commence the second wave of repression.

"#EndSARS The  @mbuhari  regime and @PoliceNG  have commenced a second wave of repression, we must, as a matter of urgency commence a second wave of resistance!" Sowore twteeted.

Also, there has been a move by other #EndSARS protesters to speak up against the recent clampdown by the Buhari-led administration.

One of which is the recent move by Bolatito Racheal Oduala the Youth representative on the Lagos Judicial panel to boycott the panel's hearing in Lagos, in protest of the freezing of the bank accounts of #EndSARS promoters.

We Will Use Legitimate Force On #EndSARS Protesters- IGP

Following reports that #EndSARS protesters were planning to return to the streets to continue the protest against the recent move by the Federal Government to deal with #EndSARS promoters, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, who warned against the protest, however, directed policemen to use legitimate force on #EndSARS protesters.

AllNews recalled that Adamu directed the commissioners of police and their supervisory assistant inspectors-general of police to resist all riotous elements forthwith and checkmate any form of violent/riotous protests.

He warned that the Force shall deploy the full weight of the law and legitimate force (if necessary) in preventing a reoccurrence.

Will The #EndSARS Protest Continue on Monday Despite Police Threat?

While there have been reports of the government's clampdown and intimidation of #EndSARS protesters, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the police, however, revealed that there were plans by some people to take advantage of the #EndSARS movement to stir up unrest.

With the recent arrest of protesters in Abuja and the freezing of #EndSARS promoter's account by the CBN, chances are high that the #EndSARS protesters might return to the street on Monday.
