#ENDSARS: Tinubu, APC Will Lose Lagos In 2023 - Lagosians P

Following the recent #ENDSARS protest that led to the attack on major assets believed to be owned by National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, AllNews on Saturday visited various newsstands In Ojodu, Ogba axis of Lagos to find out the current political sentiments of Lagosians and to survey the party Lagosians think will emerge victorious at the state Governorship election in 2023.

Recall that Tinubu has been rumoured to be the one in control of the political affairs of Lagos state as a whole, as He is believed to be responsible for determining who emerges Governor of the state at every governorship election.

However, one will be quick to forecast that he had lost his grip on the state after the #ENDSARS protest where Nigerian youths troop out en-mass to demand good governance and call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad Unit of the Nigerian Police Force.

In the cause of the protest, two of his major assets, The Nation Newspaper and Television Continental were attacked by hoodlums believed to be angered by the Lekki Massacre that led to the killing of Nigerian Youths by men of the military on the 20th of October 2020.

While Tinubu emerged as the state governor in 1999 and finished his second term in 2008,  he is believed to have been directly and indirectly involved with the selection of who emerges as the state  Governor from 2007 till date.

While at the Newsstand in Ogba on Saturday morning, AllNews spoke to Lagosians who shared their opinion of the chances of the ruling APC at the state's governorship election in 2023.

One of the Lagosians identified as Badejo Onilu a Businessman who spoke to AllNews said:

"Looking at the situation of things I feel the youths have woken up and they are beginning to get interested in politics. Before all they wanted was to work, get money and live fine; they were never interested in politics. But now you can see them, they made demands for good governance at the #ENDSARS protest.

"They are tired of this current set of leaders I don't think APC or even PDP will stand a chance come 2023."

Also Speaking with AllNews at the Ogba newsstand, another Lagosian identified as Micheal Uchendu said that he was very certain that a new thing was about to be birthed in the Nigerian political space.

citing the case of Edo state where the Governor Godwin Obaseki fought against godfatherism, Uchendu said that the #ENDSARS protest has shown that Tinubu and APC are not all-powerful and that they will lose Lagos if the youths keep the current tempo that they are moving with.

"The Nigerian political space is experiencing a new dawn, Edo Governor Obaseki fought against Godfatherism and won, that was the beginning, I know Lagosians will not give another chance to bad leadership that we are currently experiencing under APC, it will not be business as usual, He said.

Also speaking of the chances of APC and Tinubu at the 2023 elections Ayoolu Oyerinde said that the youths have discovered that the future that they have been talking about is now. He said that no top party will emerge victorious at the governorship election in Lagos come 2023.

Sharing a contrary opinion, Oguntoyinbo Akin who identified himself as a public servant believed that APC has not and will not lose Lagos anytime soon. According to him, the youths will soon get tired and go back to watching Big Brother.

"Loosing Lagos? APC cannot lose Lagos not anytime soon. Tinubu is still the Jagaban of Lagos and Sanwo-Olu is doing well so I think he will be re-elected come 2023," He said.

It will be recalled that Tinubu who was alleged to have taken to his heels after that attack on TVC and the Nation Newspaper said he did not travel to anywhere and boasted that He remains the Jagaban of Lagos.

As 2023 draws near and stakeholders await and make forecast, AllNews will be on ground to bring you reports as events leading to the 2023 election unfolds.
