Netizens are voicing their displeasure at the Lagos State Government for what they say is a cover-up of many who lost their lives during the October 2020 EndSARS protest.
Twitter is agog with comments from Nigerians who are reacting to the planned mass burial for 103 victims who perished in Lagos following the remarkable events of the aforementioned date.
The Lagos State Government in its reaction to the backlash has stated that the casualties are not from those who were at the Lekki Toll Gate but individuals who died in different parts of the state.
“It is public knowledge that the year 2020 #EndSARS crisis that snowballed into violence in many parts of Lagos recorded casualties in different areas of the state and NOT from the Lekki Toll Gate as being inferred in the mischievous publications.
“For the records, the Lagos State Environmental Health Unit (SEHMU) picked up bodies in the aftermath of #EndSARS violence and community clashes at Fagba, Ketu, Ikorodu, Orile, Ajegunle, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, Ojota, Ekoro, Ogba, Isolo and Ajah areas of Lagos State. There was also a jailbreak at Ikoyi Prison.
“The 103 casualties mentioned in the document were from these incidents and NOT from Lekki Toll-gate, as being alleged. For the avoidance of doubt, nobody was retrieved from the Lekki Toll Gate incident.
“Contrary to disingenuous narrative weaved around the recently approved mass burial, the #EndSARs Panel subpoenaed the Lagos State chief pathologist to produce full records of unclaimed bodies of dead deposited with state central morgue during the days immediately preceding and following the event at Lekki tollgate on 20/10/20", the state Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr Olusegun Ogboye said in a statement.
Despite the above, citizens are slamming the authorities and some of the reactions have been captured below:

Lagos state govt @followlasg took the bodies of slain Lekki tollgate #Endsars protesters to secretly hide in that morgue for almost 3 years, then lied to us. pic.twitter.com/Xsoz5rygE4
Families of #EndSARS victims killed by the police forces showed up btw, looking for the bodies of their loved ones, including Pelumi Onifade’s mother.
They were asked to drop DNA samples. They dropped.
Lagos State government never did any DNA test for the samples collected.— Rinu Oduala ?? (@SavvyRinu) July 24, 2023

But you want the families of the 103 dead souls to come out & claim the dead bodies so you can arrest or silence them?
You know what, let’s leak them all.
— SERAH IBRAHIM (@TheSerahIbrahim) July 24, 2023
This is not the only document I’d be leaking.
1 leaked document down, more to go.
Since you want to continue to tell lies against peaceful #EndSARS protesters in Lagos State, let’s see how far you can go Sanwo Olu.
You better tie your belt. https://t.co/9OIApDiAgF
The release of the “leaked document” on the planned mass burial of #EndSARS protesters is not accidental.
— Rinu Oduala ?? (@SavvyRinu) July 23, 2023
It was purposely released to tell Nigerians, “yes, we killed them. What can you do?”
It’s been 22 hours and this was the best lie Lagos State was able to come up with and it’s an amazing own goal.
— SERAH IBRAHIM (@TheSerahIbrahim) July 23, 2023
You picked up 103 bodies but not at the Lekki Toll Gate where senseless soldiers massacred peaceful #EndSARS youths.
This is the same lie Sanwo Olu told the panel and… https://t.co/TmfvYoK0CE
While they kept those bodies in secret, they introduced ethnic bigotry into the #EndSARS camp at a time when democracy was giving the people a chance to pay back their leaders for the injustice of #EndSARS – 2023 General Election.

Sanwo Olu wants to mass bury bodies of #EndSARS victims he killed.

Mr Governor of @followlasg , @jidesanwoolu , here is a document that has gone viral on social media, stating that your government procured services for mass burial of 103 corpses killed during the #EndSARS protest?
