Enugu Electricity Restores Power In Imo

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) on Tuesday resumed full operations in Imo following the suspension of the week-long industrial action embarked on by organised labour in the state.

The suspension followed an agreement on Monday between the Imo State Government, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), for a peaceful resolution of outstanding issues.

This is according to a statement issued by EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, Emeka Ezeh, in Enugu.

Ezeh said that consequently, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which is the primary source of power supply to EEDC, had been directed to immediately restore supply for distribution to customers within Imo.

“By this development, power supply was restored to Owerri metropolis and most parts of the state yesterday, while effort is being made to gradually restore the remaining areas today, Tuesday.

“EEDC, therefore, appreciates its esteemed customers in Imo State for the calm and understanding they displayed while the industrial action lasted,” he said.

The EEDC spokesman said that the company was “already gradually picking supply and distributing to our customers across Imo State.

“We remain committed and consistently working to deliver improved services to our esteemed customers,” he said.
