Enugu Women Meet Ugwuanyi, Plead For More Elective Positions

A network of women groups in Enugu State met with the governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi with the demand for more women to be allowed to produce candidates for various elective positions in the state.

The women who were led on the visit by Onyinye Mamah thanked the Governor for running a women-inclusive government but asked that eight out of the twenty four seats in the state house of assembly be given to women during the party primaries.

Responding to their demands, Ugwuanyi restated that his administration is "one of the most women friendly governments anyone could think of”.

The governor also advised the women to urge their various aspirants to go into the field and begin to meet with stakeholders and make their intentions known.

Aspirants present at the meeting include Amaka Nweke, Sarah Adaobi Chukwu, Princess Nneka Philips, Chizoba Nnamdi-Ezemagu, Chinwe Mba, Edith Ugwuanyi, Chidinma Offiah.
