Enyimba, Bendel Insurance Share Spoils In NPL Play-Offs

The match between Enyimba and Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) play-offs ended in a one-all draw at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos on Wednesday.

Enyimba wasted no time to get in front as  Sadiq Abubakar's superb curler from inside the box broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute.

But Insurance fought back and restored parity through Divine Nwachukwu eight minutes before the break.

With another 45 minutes left on the clock, both teams had plenty of chances to kill the game but squandered their chances in front of goal.

The result means that Enyimba sit in first position on the log having garnered five points with one win and two draws from three games, while Bendel Insurance have three points from three draws and remain unbeaten in the NPL in 21 matches.

Up next for Enyimba is Sunshine Stars on Friday, while Bendel Insurance will be up against defending champions Rivers United on the same day.

The NPL play-offs is a tournament for only six teams in the Nigerian top-flight division.

The tournament will produce the winner of the 2022-23 season.

It kicked off on June 3 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos and will end on June 11.
