Enyimba, Remo Stars Get Tricky CAF Champions League Opponent

Nigerian representatives Enyimba and Remo Stars were handed their opponents for the first round of the CAF Champions League at the draws in Cairo on Tuesday.

Enyimba, the 2022-23 Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions, will square off against Ahli Benghazi of Libya.

The Peoples’ Elephant will play the first leg away from home and host the reverse fixture on their turf a week after.

Remo Stars, runner-up in the NPL season just gone, will face Medeama of Ghana for a place in the second preliminary round of the competition.

The Sky Blue Stars will travel to Ghana for the first leg and welcome Medeama to Ikenne for the second leg.

Meanwhile, in the second-tier CAF Confederation Cup, Bendel Insurance will trade tackles with ASO Chlef of Algeria in the preliminary stages while Rivers United will face the winner of the clash between Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso and Senegal‘s Ziguinchor for a place in the group stage.

The first legs of the matches will be held between August 18 and 20, while the second legs are scheduled for two weekends later.

Thereafter, the second preliminary round will be held between September 29 and October 1, with the second leg billed for two weekends later.
