Gabriel Martinelli Celebrates Opener v Nottingham Forest
Mikel Arteta's side bounced off a 2-0 defeat to PSV in the Europa League on Thursday to reclaim the 1st position on the standings.
Brazilian forward Gabriel Martinelli gave the early opener in the first five minutes and the game went into halftime with Arsenal only one goal ahead.
Reiss Nelson scores a double on Sunday to push the Gunners ahead of champion Manchester City with 31 points.
Bukayo Saka was replaced by Nelson in the second half and quickly tripled the scoreline in the 49th and 52nd minutes, followed by Thomas Partey’s 57th-minute goal and Martin Odegaard’s finisher in the 78th minute.
This will be the first time the Gunners have won by five goals since 2018.
Striker Gabriel Jesus gave Nelson the assists that led to his goals, while Nelson also gave the last assist of the match to captain Odegaard.
The Gunners are now two points ahead of City, who are in second place with 29 points.
Nottingham Forrest with the defeat remain in the relegation zone and are sitting in 20th place with nine points.
Although Forrest had a splendid win last week after defeating Liverpool 1-0, they were unable to replicate the shocker against the Gunners.
