Brentford extended their undefeated streak in the Premier League to 12 games and boosted their aspirations of playing in European football by defeating their fellow west London contenders Fulham 3-2 at home.
Ivan Toney's penalty kick in the second half and a late goal by Mathias Jensen secured the win for Brentford, placing them closer to the European qualification spots.
Toney calmly scored past Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno in the 53rd minute, following a clumsy foul by Issa Diop on Christian Norgaard.
In the 85th minute, Jensen scored from a narrow angle after a great run and cutback by Kevin Schade. Fulham, whose four-game undefeated run ended, was outplayed by Brentford.
Ethan Pinnock scored an early goal for Brentford with a deflected shot, but Manor Solomon equalized for Fulham shortly before halftime.
Although Carlos Vinicius scored a stoppage-time consolation for Fulham, Brentford has 38 points from 24 games, just one point behind seventh-placed Fulham and four points behind fifth-placed Liverpool.
Under the leadership of Thomas Frank, Brentford has not lost in the Premier League since October.
