The teenage striker Evan Ferguson scored a clever back-heel goal in the 28th minute to give Brighton the lead. The visitors sealed the victory in injury time when another teenager, 19-year-old Julio Enciso, scored his first goal for the club.
Brighton is currently in sixth place in the Premier League table with 46 points from 27 games, while Bournemouth remains in the bottom three with 27 points from 29 matches.
Bournemouth will face fellow strugglers Leicester City on Saturday, while Brighton will travel to face fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in a crucial match for the Champions League places.
Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister praised Evan Ferguson's performance, saying, "Evan is an amazing player. He was not having his best evening but he showed his quality. We are really happy for him, we know how important he is."
Bournemouth's manager, Gary O'Neil, lamented his team's missed opportunities, saying, "The consequences are if you don't take your chances, you have to push hard and you can get caught. Their boy (Ferguson) takes a really difficult chance, we had some good chances we didn't take."
However, O'Neil remains optimistic, adding, "Tonight will hurt the boys but they will recover and go again at Leicester."
