Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion made history by guaranteeing their first-ever European campaign next season after a resounding 3-1 triumph against Southampton at the Amex Stadium in the Premier League.

Rising star Evan Ferguson stole the show with a brace, propelling his team to sixth place in the standings with an insurmountable 61 points.

With eighth-placed Tottenham Hotspur unable to catch them, Brighton can now look forward to competing in either the Europa League or the Europa Conference League.

The match began with both teams displaying attacking intent, as Kaoru Mitoma and Carlos Alcaraz squandered early opportunities. It was Brighton who broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when Evan Ferguson's powerful strike found its way past Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy, giving the home side a well-deserved lead.

Ten minutes later, Mitoma showcased his individual brilliance, overpowering Romeo Lavia on the left flank before delivering a precise cross with the outside of his boot for Ferguson to net his second goal of the game.

The teenage striker's clinical finishing left fans in awe, further solidifying his status as a rising star within the team.

Southampton, despite their relegation fate already sealed, displayed resilience and pulled a goal back in the 58th minute through Mohamed Elyounoussi.

Any hopes of a dramatic comeback were extinguished as Pascal Gross unleashed a powerful low shot from the edge of the box, eluding two defenders and nestling inside the near post. Gross's strike sealed the victory for Brighton and sparked scenes of celebration among players and fans alike.

For Southampton, languishing at the bottom of the table with 24 points, the result served as a reminder of the disappointing season they endured. Meanwhile, Brighton's historic achievement of securing European qualification represents a remarkable milestone in the club's history and a testament to their progress under the guidance of their manager.
