EPL: Everton Sack Benitez After Six Months

Everton sacked Spanish tactician Rafa Benitez on Sunday after a 2-1 defeat at Norwich City, which left the Merseyside club six points above the Premier League relegation zone in 16th place.

"Benitez, who joined Everton in June 2021, has left the club with immediate effect," Everton said in a statement.

"An update on a permanent replacement will be made in due course."

The Spaniard returned to Europe from Dalian Professional, a Chinese club after Carlo Ancelotti departed Everton for Real Madrid but he has not been able to take Everton anywhere as they sit 15th on the Premier League standings, 6 points out of the relegation zone.
