EPL: Iheanacho Backs Leicester City To End Tottenham's Unbeaten Run

EPL: Iheanacho Backs Leicester City To End Tottenham's Unbea

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho is confident that Leicester City can end their poor start to the 2022-23 Premier League season with a win against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Foxes have endured a dismal start to the season, losing five of their first six League games and still looking for their first win of the season.

Tottenham, on the other hand, have started the season with a flourish winning four out of six games without losing.

Iheanacho believes a win against Tottenham will give his struggling team the momentum needed to turn their fortunes around.

“It would be massive – so, so massive for the Club and everyone involved,” he said on the club's website.

“A win would give us the momentum to go forward this season. We need to defend as a team, attack as a team and just work hard as a team.

“We have been preparing very, very hard for this, and hopefully, it turns around this weekend. Training has been going quite well.

"The message has always been that we stick together whether we lose or win but right now, we need to show character, hunger and desire.

“As players and as a team, we know we can get the results we need, we showed that last season.

"So far this season, it’s just turned out the other way. We have great quality in this team, so we just need to believe in ourselves and get the points to get us back up there this season.”

The Former Manchester City forward admitted that he and his teammates need to step up to stop the losing run.

”We haven’t started well this season, but I think we have been playing well.

“Every game, the outcome has not been good, but we need to stick together, we need to show character, and we need to represent the Club and represent our families.

“We are not in good momentum at the moment, but we do have a great quality in our team, and we just have to stick together to come back.

"There’s still a lot of games left, but we just need to start winning games now. We’re working really hard in training, so the wins will come.”

Iheanacho was on target for Leicester City in the 5-2 loss to Brighton, and he will be hoping to continue in that vein against Tottenham on Saturday.

Leicester City sold Wesley Fofana and Kasper Schmeichel in the summer and they brought in only Wout Faes to beef up the team.
