EPL: Leicester, United Played 2-2 In Top Table Affair

Leicester City proved unyielding as they came back from behind twice to retain their second place against defensively poor Manchester United in a 2-2 draw ending in both sides sharing a point.

AllNews understands that Manchester United could have taken second place with a win at the King Power stadium but Leicester was not ready to relinquish their second place and kept pushing until a draw was achieved.

Manchester United opened up the scoring as Bruno's outstretched leg found Marcus Rashford alone with Peter Schmeichel, as he rounded up the goal in style.

Leicester City responded minutes later after a poor defensive error by Lindelof who later was subbed off due to injury, Maddison picked up the ball and laid it off for Barnes who ran at the defense before unleashing a long strike into the net past De Gea's hand.

Parity was restored for the host before the halftime interval, United made a couple of changes including Martial going off for Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan made his impact known after coming in as he found Bruno Fernandes in the box and the Portuguese tucked it a near-post shot to make it 2-1 for United.

Leicester showed the game was never over until it is over with high press though ending few times with misses or corner kick.

Until Ayoze Perez found Vardy with a low cross and Jamie Vardy with a deft shot off the leg of Tuanzebe into the net with De Gea at the other end of the post.

Leicester kept their second place ending into the end of 2020 and United sits third with a game at hand.

Everton can overtake both at the top to restore the Meyerside teams' lead with their game against Sheffield later on boxing day, while Chelsea also can take a huge step in the title race with a win against relegation-threatened Arsenal.
