EPL: Liverpool End Winless Run To Give Dyche's Everton Reality Check

EPL: Liverpool End Winless Run To Give Dyche's Everton Reali

Cody Gakpo

Liverpool ended their four-game winless run in the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Everton in the Merseyside derby, with goals from Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo's tap-in from Trent Alexandre Arnold's cross was his first goal for Liverpool since his January move from PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool remains ninth, but their chances of finishing in the top four have improved, and they could cut the gap to six points when they face Newcastle United next weekend.

German tactician Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that Liverpool's victory will boost their confidence ahead of their Champions League last-16 clash with Real Madrid.

Liverpool welcomed back Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, and Virgil Van Dijk from injury as substitutes. Everton, who have just one win in 12 games, was left to rue missed opportunities, including James Tarkowski's header that hit the post just before Liverpool took the lead.

Sean Dyche's first match in charge as league leaders Arsenal were shocked 1-0 at Goodison Park. But Dyche was given a better understanding of the problems he has inherited.
