Manchester United forward, Marcus Rashford has been announced as one of TIME magazine's 'next 100 most influential people in the world’, which aims to celebrate emerging leaders.
The English Premier League (EPL) star was recognised as part of a new generation of global leaders thanks to his tireless work to fight against food poverty in the United Kingdom (UK).

We are all in this together. #ENDCHILDFOODPOVERTY
The Manchester United Academy product has changed the lives of millions of hungry children in the UK, giving a voice to a nation in need and inspiring a new era of philanthropy—but far from taking any personal credit for his modern-day heroism.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Rashford, who has raised some £20,000,000 for food poverty charity FareShare, has been pushing since early last year for the UK government’s free school meals campaign to be extended until the Easter holidays of 2021 rather than only during term time.
In a recent BBC documentary, Rashford said that being admitted into Manchester United's youth academy — where he was provided with free food — was a vital part of his development as an elite athlete.

Reacting to his latest honour, Rashford took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday to thank the honour bestower.
Speaking after Time's announcement, Formula One (F1) star and Rashford's compatriot, Lewis Hamilton stated: "In a year that showed us the power of working together toward a common goal, he was a galvanizing force behind uniting people across the U.K. in the effort to ensure that no child goes hungry."
