Crystal-Palace-v-Newcastle-United-Players
Newcastle United played out a goalless draw with Crystal Palace in a controversial Premier League encounter at St James' park on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts were enraged when the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) ruled out their goal after Tyrick Mitchell diverted the ball into his own net, for a foul on Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Guaita, by Joe Willock.
However, replays showed that Mitchell pushed Willock, and the goal should have stood.
Newcastle record signing Alexander Isak missed a glorious chance when he opted to chip the ball over Guiata when he had only the goalkeeper to beat.
Miguel Almiron's effort hit the post before Willock missed a late opportunity to grab the maximum points for the hosts.
Crystal Palace had their chance when Nick Pope denied Odsonne Edouard with a superb save from close range.
Both sides held on to share the spoils, but Newcastle will feel hard done by that VAR's incorrect decision.
Newcastle are now winless in five games for the first time under Eddie Howe, while Crystal Palace earned their third draw of the season.
Newcastle will be back in Premier League action against West Ham, while Crystal Palace hosts Manchester United on Sunday.
