EPL: No Fans For Chelsea vs Wolves As UK Govt Raises Level

The United Kingdom government has raised London's status to tier 3 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the EPL match between Chelsea and Wolves will be played behind closed doors without fans, the EPL club confirmed.

AllNews understands that Chelsea is currently in a plan to refund fans their ticket fee with a statement released by the club on Tuesday stating just that.

The statement states that "Under the Government’s three-tier system introduced at the beginning of this month, fans could return in lower transmission areas with a maximum of 4,000 fans being allowed into stadiums in Tier 1 (medium alert) locations, and 2,000 fans in Tier 2 (high alert) locations. Stadiums in Tier 3 (very high alert) are not permitted to welcome fans".

It added that "our forthcoming men’s fixture against West Ham United will be played behind closed doors, as will our upcoming women’s matches against Benfica and Tottenham".

The restriction extends to both female and male football.

The club confirmed the means of refund for both credit/debit card users when it states, "Supporters who secured tickets for any of those games will be entitled to a full refund in accordance with our Match Ticket Conditions of Issue.

"For those supporters who paid by credit, that credit will be reapplied to their season ticket account for use in the future. For those supporters who paid by credit/debit card, a refund will be made to that payment method".

Chelsea who already qualified for UEFA Champions League is set to face Atletico Madrid in the knockout stages and would be playing Wolves on Tuesday in the English Premier.
