EPL: 'Rich' Chelsea Can Not Afford Goal Against Fulham

EPL: 'Rich' Chelsea Can Not Afford Goal Against Fulham

Fulham held Chelsea to a scoreless draw in Friday's London Derby, preventing Graham Potter's star players from scoring their goals.

Enzo Fernandez made his Chelsea debut after becoming the most expensive player in British football with a £107 million transfer from Benfica on transfer deadline day.

Mykhailo Mudryk made full home debut while Noni Madueke, and David Datro Fofana also made their Premier League debuts.

Chelsea's owners invested over £300 million during the January transfer window, bringing their total player spending for the season to over half a billion.

Despite the attendance of co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali, another opportunity to move closer to the top four was missed.

Potter's squad is currently ninth in the table, nine points away from the Champions League spots. Potter commented, "The new players are adjusting to a new country and league, which is not easy. When the price tag is that high, questions will be asked.

"We have a strong group of players but we need to gel and become a good team. That's where the work is."

Fulham secured their first victory in the west London derby since 2006 when they played Chelsea three weeks ago and currently sit two points and three places ahead of them in the table in their first season back in the Premier League.
