EPL: Saka, Martinelli Set Arsenal Up For 4-Nil Riot Over Eve

Arsenal

Arsenal secured a crucial win over Everton as Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli scored before Martin Odegaard added a third at the Emirates Stadium.

Mikel Arteta's side needed to win their game in hand over second-placed Manchester City as the title race enters its final stretch.

After a dip in form that saw them lose three league games without a win, including a 3-1 loss to Manchester City, Arsenal have bounced back with three consecutive victories.

In contrast, Everton has lost three times and won just once since their shock 1-0 win against Arsenal at Goodison Park on February 4. The Toffees remain third bottom of the table, with just 17 goals scored, and are in danger of being relegated to the second tier for the first time since 1954 unless Sean Dyche can turn things around.

Arsenal named an unchanged team from their 1-0 win at Leicester on Saturday, with Leandro Trossard preferred to Eddie Nketiah in the attack.

The breakthrough for Arsenal came in the 40th minute when Saka scored his 11th goal of the season with a fierce strike into the top corner. Martinelli doubled the lead in stoppage time after Saka dispossessed Idrissa Gueye and assisted the Brazilian.

Odegaard put the result beyond doubt in the 71st minute with a deflected strike from Trossard's cross, and Martinelli added a fourth from Nketiah's cutback in the 80th minute.

Although Arsenal face a tough test in their next game against Manchester United, they will be confident of maintaining their form and challenging for the title.

The result keeps Mikel Arteta's side in pole position to win their first title since the 'Invincibles' in 2003-04, with 13 games left to play. Everton, on the other hand, remain rooted in the relegation zone, having won just one of their last four games.
