Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho's goal in the 70th minute, his first since September 2022 rescued a draw for Manchester United against managerless Leeds United at Old Trafford.

Despite fitness issues sidelining Sancho for much of the season, he came off the bench to rescue a point and extend United's unbeaten home run to 16 games.

Leeds, who are currently managerless following Jesse Marsch's sacking, had taken the lead with goals from Wilfried Gnonto and Raphael Varane's own goal. But Marcus Rashford's 20th goal of the season sparked a United fightback before Sancho equalized.

The draw was more valuable to Leeds, who edge one point clear of the relegation zone, while United remain in third place, seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

United missed the presence of the suspended Casemiro in midfield, allowing Leeds to counter-attack at will. Gnonto was a consistent bright spark for Leeds, scoring his fourth goal in seven games. Despite an injury to Luis Sinisterra and a concussion for Pascal Struijk, Leeds managed to hold on to their lead until halftime.

After the break, United were slow to react and Gnonto released Crysencio Summerville down the left, resulting in Varane's own goal. Sancho's return to action has been a timely boost for United, who are still involved in four competitions and short on attacking options.

The England international collected Luke Shaw's deflected cross and his low strike caught out Meslier low to his left. United laid siege to the Leeds goal in search of a winner, but Meslier redeemed himself with a fine save to tip over a Varane header. Bruno Fernandes twice fired off target as United failed to complete the comeback.
