EPL: VAR To Liverpool's Rescue As Everton Almost Win Merseys

Jordan Pickford Saves Everton vs Liverpool

Frank Lampard's Everton were the better side in the goalless draw against Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby on Saturday.

Alisson Becker and Jordan Pickford were crucial to their sides goalless status as they cleared out any dangerous ball directed at their net.

The only goal by Everton was scored by former Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper Conor Coady but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) chunked it off.

Pickford was by far important to Everton's one point as he again and again got on the ground to parry shots from Roberto Firmino, returning Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah.

The Toffees are also very energetic through the match with special mention of Amadou Onana, the Belgian midfielder kept some dangerous attacks at bay.

While returning Idrissa Gueye was also important to Lampard's side as he gave the side confidence in the middle of the park.

The draw means the Reds got 9 points from 6 Premier League games siting provisionally 5th ahead of other games.

Everton remains without a win in their 6 games with 4 draws and 2 losses.

Up next for the two Merseyside teams -- Liverpool welcome Wolves to Anfield while Everton travel to Arsenal.
