Equatorial Guinea kicked out of AFCON by Guinea

Guinea Defeat Malawi

Equatorial Guinea lost 0-1 to West African side Guinea as both squared off in the Round of 16 clash on Sunday evening.

Both sides came into the game with much hope after scaling through the group stage hurdles after three rounds of matches.

However, the Guineans took the initiative early on in the game. But despite many attempts, the match ended in a stalemate at the break.

The two sides came out after the intermission to get the goal they wanted but it was the Equatorial Guinea side that was in trouble as Federico Bikoro was sent off in the 55th minute of the match.

Equatorial Guinea was given a lifeline in the game when they were awarded a penalty. But star forward Emilio Nsue missed the spot kick to the dismay of his teammate. Nsue penalty miss came in the 68th minute.

It would come back to haunt them late in the game as Guinea snatched the winner when Mohamed Bayo scored in the 90+8 minute to seal a famous win for his side.

Ibrahim Diakite made the assist for the only goal of the game.
