Erik ten Hag Happy To Finish In Third Place

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says he is pleased to have guided his team to a third-place finish in the Premier League.

United ended their campaign on a high note with a 2-1 home win against Fulham on the final day of the season.

It was the visitors who broke the deadlock courtesy of a near post header squeezed in by Kenny Tete in the 19th minute but Jadon Sancho got the equaliser in the 39th minute before Bruno Fernandes netted a 55th-minute winner.

At the end of the match, the Dutchman told BBC MOTD: "I think the three points are justified.

"I think we created many chances so I am happy with this win and happy with third place.

"To win 27 home games [all competitions] in one season is a big achievement.

"The penalty save was a turning point. We were better organised in and out of possession after that."

Ten Hag also acknowledged that United had a rough start to the season but managed to regain their footing in the Premier League top four race.

"It was a difficult start [to the season]," he said

"We grew as a team and as individuals. There are many competitors for the top-four positions. It's a big compliment for this team."

With the domestic league over, United will now turn their attention to the FA Cup final against noisy neighbors Manchester City on June 3.

Should they win City at Wembley, it would be the icing on the cake for United who clinched the Carabao Cup in February.
