'Eternals': Why Marvel's Latest Movie Has Been Banned In Sau

Cinema screens in Sauda Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait will not be showing Marvel's latest superhero epic Eternals and that may not be unrelated to its gay couple content.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Chloe Zhao, the film marks the first superhero same-sex couple to be portrayed on the big screen.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the film which was due for release across the Gulf region on November 11, 2021, was met with a series of edit requests by local censors.

Per the report, Marvel parent company Disney refused to make the edits and this has led to Eternals being silently removed from websites in the aforementioned countries.

The news which emerged on Thursday also adds that the film is still listed among the titles coming soon in the United Arab Emirates.

The gay couple in the film is played by Brian Tyree Henry and Haaz Sleiman; both of them share a passionate kiss in one scene.

According to a regional chain, Eternals has been banned in the region but no explanation was given for the decision.
