Euro 2024: Mbappe, Lewandowski penalties settle France, Pol

Kylian Mbappe scored his first-ever European Championship goal, Tuesday evening, at the BVB Stadion Dortmundas. France were held to a 1-1 draw by an already-eliminated Poland to finish second in Group D.

France required to win to top the group but they were denied that chance when Robert Lewandowski stepped up to convert a penalty with 11 minutes left on the clock.

France had taken the lead through Mbappe who also scored from the spot kick with 56 minutes played.

Ousmane Dembele was chopped down by Jakub Kiwior and the incoming Real Madrid star made no mistakes in dispatching the ball.

Mbappe missed the game against the Netherlands due to the nose injury he picked up in the first game, and wore the special mask in his team's colours.

Les Blues will face the runners up in Group E who now occupy the same half of the draw as Portugal, Spain and Germany.
