Euro 2024: Turkiye set to prove 'dark horse' toga against debutants Georgia

Euro 2024: Turkiye set to prove 'dark horse' toga against de

Turkiye will have a fully fit squad as they take on debutants Georgia in the first of Group F matches in the Euro 2024 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Turkish side has always had good players but has not quite cut it at major tournaments. They have never won an opening game in the history of the Euros.

Inter Milan superstar Hakan Calhanoglu emerged as Serie A's best midfielder in the 2023/2024 season and will be key to helping his side get past Georgia coached by former France international Willy Sagnol.

Real Madrid youngster Arda Guler is also expected to start and prove that age is only but a number.

Georgia's coach, Sagnol would hope that Solomon Kverkvelia and Otar Kiteishvili overcome their knocks to start Georgia's first international tournament game.

Georgia should line up in a 3-5-2 here with Georges Mikautadze set to partner Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack.

Turkiye have a navigable fixture to kick off Euro 2024 and coach Vicente Montella even acknowledged that in the buildup to the game although they must not play down the possibility of an upset as Georgia recorded three successive wins in the lead-up to Euro 2024, which includes their penalty shootout success over Greece to book their spot.

Napoli superstar Kvaratskhelia nicknamed 'Kvaratskhedona' by his adoring fans will be a torn in the backline of Turkiye and could even get a goal or assist a teammate but the Crescent-Stars should have enough to edge this.

Allnews.ng's prediction: Turkiye 2-1 Georgia.
