Europa League: Boniface returns with winning goal for Leverk

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface scored his first goal since December and his fifth in six Europa League games this season on Thursday night as German Bundesliga champions-elect - Bayer Leverkusen secured a two-goal advantge in the Europa quarter-final tie against Premier League side West Ham United.

Boniface missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d' Ivoire through injury which he copped seven days before the tournament kicked off. 

Another Bayer substitute Jonas Hofmann had shot the Germans ahead from 18 yards through a crowded box and beyond Lukasz Fabianski.

Leverkusen have only won a single trophy in their 120-year history.

West Ham boss Moyes were tipped to cause apossible upset and puncture Leverksen's rn of winning streak after winning his first trophy in 1,100 games as a manager last June‌ when they were crowned the champions.

The Hammers will be without Lucas Paqueta, who picked up his 13th booking for club and country this season.‌
