Europa League: Granada, Villarreal Into Last 16

Granada and Villarreal might just be La Liga's bragging gems in the UEFA competition after Sevilla, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are all at the brink of elimination.

Real Madrid is the only Spanish team in the Champions League to win the first leg of the round of 16.

Granada lost their second leg match away at Napoli 2-1 but managed to qualify on away goals thanks to Montoro's 24th-minute goal which gave the Spanish side their lone away goal.

Villarreal on the other hand were almost perfect as they defeat Red Bull Salzburg 2-1 taking their aggregate to 4-1 after a resounding 2-0 away defeat to Salzburg.

Gerard Moreno's brace put the matter in the yellow submarine's hands as they cruise to the next round of the Europa League. 

Real Sociedad will take on Manchester United later on Thursday and see if they can pull off a miraculous comeback as they suffered the worst scoreline for all La Liga losing teams 4-0 in Turin.
