In preparation for Juventus' Europa League last-16 first leg against Freiburg on Thursday, Massimiliano Allegri, the Juventus coach, stated that Paul Pogba's fitness will be evaluated.
Pogba, who had been injured for the first half of the season, rejoined Juventus from Manchester United during the off-season and made his second debut as a substitute in their 4-2 victory over Torino last month. In Serie A's 1-0 loss to AS Roma on Sunday, he again came off the bench.
Allegri stated in a press conference, "Yesterday Pogba did a good training session, today he rested, tomorrow morning we will know if he is available. Today he didn't work with the team: I think he's available, but we'll see."
Juventus, who have won the European Cup twice, have only lost one of their last 20 Europa League games before hosting Freiburg in Turin. Allegri stated that "tomorrow we want to lay the foundations for the second leg" and that "they are physically strong, they are fifth in Germany, they are unbeaten in Europe. We have to get back to winning ways at home."
