Manchester United put their embarrassing defeat against Liverpool behind them with a convincing 4-1 victory over Real Betis in the first leg of their Europa League last 16 tie.

United got off to a flying start with Marcus Rashford opening the scoring early on with his 26th goal of the season.

However, the visitors managed to find an equalizer against the run of play when Ayoze Perez fired into the far corner.

Betis could have even taken the lead before halftime when Perez's deflected cross came back off the post, but it was United who ultimately prevailed.

Antony and Bruno Fernandes, who had both faced fierce criticism in recent days, stepped up in the second half to secure the win for United.

Antony curled a brilliant shot into the top corner before Fernandes, who was named captain once again by Erik ten Hag, headed in Luke Shaw's corner.

Wout Weghorst put the cherry on top of the victory with his goal in the 84th minute, giving United a comfortable three-goal cushion heading into the second leg.

The result was a much-needed confidence boost for United after their devastating loss to Liverpool, and they will be hoping to carry this momentum into the rest of their Europa League campaign.
