Everton Confirm Mina, Townsend, Begovic Departures After EPL

Everton Players

Everton confirmed on Friday that Yerry Mina, Andros Townsend, and Asmir Begovic will be leaving the club after their contracts expire this month.

However, the Premier League side has offered new deals to Seamus Coleman and Tom Davies as they look to shape their squad for the upcoming season.

Everton narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of the Premier League season and is now making changes to their playing staff. The club has activated the option to extend midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure's contract until June 2024, highlighting their faith in his abilities.

Yerry Mina, who joined Everton from Barcelona in 2018, has become a fan favourite despite struggling with injuries this season. The Colombian defender played only seven league games but made a significant impact by scoring a crucial 99th-minute equalizer against Wolverhampton Wanderers in their penultimate match.

Mina bid farewell to Everton in a heartfelt social media post, expressing his gratitude and stating, "It has been an honour to have belonged to Everton, and wherever I go, I will be cheering for sure. You are in my heart. Farewell Everton."

Backup goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has also declined a new contract offer from Everton, and the Bosnian international shared his farewell message to the fans earlier this week. The club's director of football, Kevin Thelwell, wished all departing players well in their future endeavours.
