Ex-Manchester City Man, David Silva Turns Down CL By Joining Spanish Side, Real Sociedad In 2-Year Deal

Ex-Manchester City Man, David Silva Turns Down CL By Joining

Manchester City Midfielder, David Silva has joined Spanish side, Real Sociedad over Lazio in a 2-year deal as a free agent. After numerous speculation of erecting a statue for the diminutive playmaker at the Ethiad Stadium after incredible spells at Manchester, he has decided to team up with the La Liga side.

The 34-year old was set to join Lazio earlier this month after reports claimed he already agreed on personal terms with the Italian side, but he made a U-turn and decided to go back to his home country in Basque Country, Spain.

Real Sociedad has qualified for the Europa League while Lazio is in the Champions League ahead of next season. The only trophy missing in the Spaniard cabinet is the UEFA Champions League and he has turned down the opportunity to play in the CL by joining Real Sociedad.

He became the second player after Leroy Sane to decide to go back home instead of staying at the Manchester Club ahead of the next season campaign.

In his 10-year stay at the Etihad, he scored 77 goals with 148 assists across 436 appearances. In his trophy-laden career, he has a World Cup, 2 European Championship, 4 Premier League, 2 FA Cups, 1 Copa del Rey, 3 Community Shields, and 5 League Cups. With his career centered between Spain and England, the two missing trophies are La Liga and UEFA Champions League. This might have been among his reasons for rejoining La Liga instead of Lazio.
