A Lesotho High Court has charged Thomas Thabane, the former Prime Minister of the country for the murder of his first wife.
According to the charges against Thabane, the 82 years old is accused of hiring assassin's to kill his wife, Lipolelo in June 2017. This was two days before he took office as head of government.
Also, accused is Thabane's current wife who married Thabane two months after the murder of his late wife. It was claimed that Lipolelo and Thomas Thabane were involved in a bitter divorce. Thabane was said to have paid the assassins €21,000 to kill Lilepolo.
Thomas Thabane served as Prime Minister from 2017 to 2020 and the case finally led to his resignation in May 2020.
