Expert Says 90 Per Cent Nigerian Primary Health Centers Inoperative

Dr Chiwuike Uba, an economic expert has said that 90 per cent of Primary Health Centres in Nigeria are not functional.

According to a statement, Uba said the situation needs urgent attention irrespective of the winner of the 2023 general election.

Uba also said the future of the Nigerian economy was supposed to be knowledge-driven

The statement reads in part, “In the same, while Primary Healthcare Centres represent over 85 per cent of the over 39,000 hospitals and clinics in Nigeria, about 90 per cent of these PHCs are not functional.

"This situation needs to be reversed in 2023, irrespective of who wins the elections.”

He, therefore, called for increased investment in the health sector.
