The two London teams in the FA Cup final; Chelsea and Arsenal met for the 200th time to decide who goes home with Emirate Cup on Saturday evening at the Wembley Stadium in England after defeating the two Manchester teams in the semifinal of the tournament; Manchester City and Manchester United.
The Gunners ended the EPL season poorly finishing below the top 6 which means no European football for the North London club but the FA Cup offers an opportunity for its winner to play in the Europa League even if such club relegates to the second division of the country's football. The journey to the final was not an easy one for the Gunners with them facing Manchester City in the semifinal which they won playing a very different football style to the one they are used to. The tactics on the day was - win the ball and launch a counter-attack to Pacey Aubameyang to finish and it worked to perfection especially in the second goal when Aubameyang paced both centre backs of the Manchester Club and finished the one-om-one in style, it was a defeat not just to the Manchester City club but also to the manager who Mikel Arteta was an assistant to, over 10 months ago.
In the final, it was a game of two former club player turn manager, Mikel Arteta played for Arsenal in his career and Frank Lampard grace the blues shirt during his trophy-laden career at the national stadium, Wembley. Chelsea scored first through Pulisic after an excellent exchange of passes which ended at the back of the net very early in the game, precisely 5 mins into the match.
Arsenal responded at 28 mins when Ceaser Azpilicueta brought Aubameyang down in the box, after VAR review, the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty, a yellow card was awarded to the full-back, Azpilicueta, and Arsenal, a penalty. Aubameyang stepped up to take it, he sent Willy Caballero the wrong way. scoreline 1-1.
The second half begins, 67mins into the game, Arsenal winger, Nicholas Pepe ran at the Blues defense, sent a pass to Aubameyang who dribbled past Zouma to finish with a plum. He ran down the byline ending it in an acrobatic celebration, his legendary flip.
