Kompany, the former Belgium captain, is leading Burnley back to the Premier League in his first managerial job in England. However, Burnley had to rely on a late Connor Roberts goal to beat League One Fleetwood Town on Wednesday to reach the quarterfinals.
Both Manchester clubs avoided each other in the draw. Nevertheless, United had to stage a comeback to secure their spot in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup. They will now face Fulham at Old Trafford.
Grimsby, who caused a shock by defeating Southampton 2-1, will travel to Brighton in the last eight. Meanwhile, Sheffield United will host Blackburn in an all-Championship tie after the Blades' 1-0 victory over Tottenham.
