The Football Association has launched an investigation over Arsenal fans throwing bottles at Kevin de Bruyne during Manchester City's win at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
The midfielder was pelted with plastic bottles while he was walking around the pitch after being substituted late on.
De Bruyne, who opened the scoring and set up a goal as City took over the top spot in the Premier League from the Gunners, was also embroiled in a brief touchline spat with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.
Referee Anthony Taylor included the incident in his match report as misconduct observed during the game.
Arsenal condemned the incident through their spokesperson, saying: "This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated."
Despite the hostility, the 31-year-old Belgian made light of the incident with a post on Instagram captioned: "Beer anyone?"
He then shared another picture of a plastic cup heading towards him with the caption: "Thanks!"
