FAAN Confirms Bush Fire Incident At Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport

There was a reported incident of a bush fire at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, in Owerri, Imo State.

The incident was confirmed in a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Henrietta Yakubu, on Tuesday, stating that the event was checked by officers of the Air Rescue and Fire Fighting Services.

Although, according to FAAN, there was no disruption of flight activities, as the airport carried on with its operations without any further incident.

In the statement, FAAN reassured passengers of its dedication to their safety and comfort, also cautioning residents surrounding the airport to abstain from burning bushes, as this could affect flight operations at the airport which could be exacerbated by the weather.
