Facebook has announced that it is rolling out Reels for iOS and Android in the US to enable creators to create more short entertaining videos.
Facebook said that Reels can consist of music, audio, effects and more. Users can find them in News Feed or in Groups, and when viewing a reel on Facebook, they can easily follow the creator directly from the video, like and comment on it, or share it with friends.
A big part of the Reels effort is appealing to the people who make entertaining content, and with its news feed, Facebook can offer potential levels of exposure that are bigger than anyone else, including competition like TikTok and Snapchat.
To drive the point home, Facebook announced a Reels Play bonus program, which will invite certain creators to get paid based on the performance of their reels.
The Reels Play bonus will initially be invite-only, beginning in the US and potentially expanding globally over time. Interested creators can sign up to learn more about the Facebook Reels Play bonus and can visit our Facebook for Creator's blog to learn best practices for creating reels.
