FACT CHECK: Was APC National Chairman Adamu Stripped In Publ

A viral video purported to be that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, who was overwhelmed by an angry mob who stripped him naked made its way onto the social media space. How reliable is the claim?

The video generated 893 likes and  638 retweets from one of its purveyors, @RealOlaudah, at the time of compiling this report.

The individual put forward that the video was a result of public disapproval of the APC national chairman in Nasarawa state.

Verification

The video failed both organic and mental verification as carried out by AllNews Nigeria fact check desk.

The individual in the viral video is glaringly younger than the APC National Chairman.

When we contacted our correspondents in Nasarawa State, they identified the man in the much-shared video as Abubakar Abu Giza,  a prominent member of the APC in the state.

Our fact check desk also understands that The Sun reported that a chieftain of the APC was violently attacked by thugs at the Emir’s Palace in Lafia coincidentally when the video was making headway.

In that report, the violence was credited to angry APC youths who attacked Abu Giza at the parrty's rally in the state.

The picture of the individual in the viral video is the same as Abu Giza's

Verdict

The man stripped in the viral video is not Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the APC as claimed by the sharers of the clip.
