The Nigeria strategic trade group that identifies and harnesses the economic and trade potentials of Nigeria and Great Britain, the Nigeria British Chambers of Commerce (NBCC) held a press briefing on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at the Deputy High Commission residence in Lagos to discuss, highlight and present its agenda for the upcoming events scheduled to take place next month.

As part of its stakeholder engagement, the NBCC hosted a press briefing to give updates for its activities planned ahead. It was an opportunity for Akin Osuntoki, the vice president of NBCC and chairman of the inauguration committee to give an update on the lineup of activities towards the December 3 presidential dinner and other agenda.

Osuntoki started his speech by presenting a lineup of the activities that would lead to the dinner. He stated that there would be an inauguration of a Technology Sectoral group within the chamber.

The inauguration would help to formally and in the full eyes of the public introduce the Technology Sectoral group to the already existing Oil & Gas sectoral group, the Agriculture & Export sectoral, Learning, Education & Training sectoral group, Professional Services group, and Construction & Real Estate group.

The aim of this Technology group is to create a platform through which organizations can organize Business to Business (B2B) activities for their members.

It also aims to become an effective platform through which start-up member organizations can access effective mentorship and attract funding both locally and internationally. The event is scheduled for Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the British Deputy High commission residence in Lagos.

Other events to hold are the Nigeria British Golf Cup tournament. This golf tournament will be an excellent opportunity for corporate organizations to engage themselves in a relaxed but competitive sports tournament. The event has been designed for corporate strategic relationships and networking amongst members and non-members. It will take place on Thursday, November 25, 2021.

He stated further that the main event which is the presidential inauguration dinner will come up on Friday, December 3, 2021, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island. The star attraction will be the inauguration of the 17th President and Chairman of Council, Bisi Adeyemo. It is also going to a fundraising event to launch and equip its software incubation for young women.

The objective is to provide an academy for young women in software engineering and coding and to increase women participation in technologically driven sectors.

As part of its agenda, Bismarck Jemide Rewane, the C.E.O of the financial derivatives, is expected to give a 2022 economic review presentation.

He spoke further that the occasion would be chaired by Dr. Olayemi Cardoso, the Chairman of Citibank Nigeria Limited. The guest speaker is Dr. Omobola Johnson the Chairman, Guinness Nigeria Plc.
