Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK), former Minister of Aviation has debunked media reports that he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in Lagos on Tuesday.
According to an Instagram post on Tuesday night, the Former Minister made a mockery of the media for getting their news wrong for the second time in a week.
"I was invited to the EFCC again today (Tuesday). Once again, despite media reports, I was NOT arrested but merely invited and I honoured the invitation.
“I got there at 11.00 am and I left 9.00 pm. Thanks be to God!," he said
According to media reports, the Former Minister was arrested after the court session on his N4.6 billion money laundering trial.
Recall that FFK is standing trial alongside a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenadi Usman, a former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Yusuf Danjuma, and a company, Join-Trust Dimensions Nigeria Ltd. on 17 counts of money laundering to the tune of N4.6billion.
The defendants had pleaded “not guilty” to all the charges preferred against them.
The trial judge, Justice Daniel Osaigor of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Tuesday adjourned the case till January 24, 2022 for further hearing.
