Sports fans on social media are reacting to the astonishing turn of events, involving Scuderia Ferrari and German racing driver Sebastian Vettel parting ways at the end of 2020.
Allnews reports that the development brings a 5-year romance to an end and casts a massive doubt over Vettel’s future.
Allnews observed that many followers of Formula 1 were stunned when the news was made official on Tuesday.
Vettel admitted, “The team (Ferrari) and I have realised that there is no longer a common desire to stay together beyond the end of this season.
"Financial matters have played no part in this joint decision. That’s not the way I think when it comes to making certain choices and it never will be.”
The 4-time world champion is willing to take some time to reflect on his priorities for the future.
Vettel concluded, “Scuderia Ferrari occupies a special place in Formula 1 and I hope it gets all the success it deserves. Finally, I want to thank the whole Ferrari family and above all its “tifosi” all around the world, for the support they have given me over the years.
"My immediate goal is to finish my long stint with Ferrari, in the hope of sharing some more beautiful moments together, to add to all those we have enjoyed so far.”

It's a shame about Vettel and Ferrari but Seb did some great work there. He wouldn't have won the championship at any team but Mercedes in the last 6 years so he was a bit stuck. And Ferrari never quite got the momentum together.
A fresh start is good.

I would love to see Sebastian Vettel - hoping he doesn't retire - and Carlos Sainz swap seats. Sainz' talent and maturity behind the wheel surprised me last year and how cool would it be, if a four-time World Champion together with a young star were to lead McLaren's resurgence? pic.twitter.com/hwrIJJccAm

I am heartbroken that his (and my) dream of winning a title with Ferrari is as good as over. I am heartbroken that this announcement comes in a season where there will likely be no fan presence at any race, if there will even be a race at all. #Seb5 #Vettel

I have no words. It was hard to believe and now I’m just devastated. When he left Red Bull it was hard but I knew that he’ll stay, now he leave Ferrari and I don’t know what to say if he won’t stay in F1.
Seb, you were my huge inspiration and I wish you everything good#Vettel pic.twitter.com/oa8fgFG5OP

Sebastian Vettel came to Ferrari to fulfil a boyhood dream.
He turned a team on its knees into a real title contending force, picking up more Ferrari wins than anyone bar Lauda and Schumacher.
Whatever happens in 2020, Vettel will always be remembered as a Ferrari great. pic.twitter.com/E548dePlCS

sebastian vettel is a legend, he'll always be a legend and i wish people would perceive him as such. 4 consecutive titles, the youngest champion in f1 history. last year's season was a shame for ferrari as a whole, and definitely not because of seb.
i'm proud of my champion pic.twitter.com/bd5hj4vVCz

I don't know what is going on yet, but if the rumors are true I think SEBASTIAN VETTEL is taking the right decision, even if he goes to McLaren or Renault, he deserves to be the leader of a project, he doesn't deserve none of the shit that Ferrari is "giving" to him. pic.twitter.com/VHsVoVvdK5
