FCTA Bans Illegal POS Operators

FCTA Bans Illegal POS Operators

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Wednesday banned the activities of illegal Point of Sales (POS) operators by roadsides and unapproved places on the streets of the nation's capital.

The Coordinator of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Umar Shuaibu, said the move became necessary to address insecurity associated with the activities.

He noted that while the administration was not completely against POS business in Abuja, indiscriminate operatiions and creating nuisance on Abuja streets and roads violate environmental rules.

"We are not against POS operators, rather we want to have them in a cordinated manner not showing up indiscriminately on the streets and unauthorised places."

Also Speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to FCT Minister on Monitoring,Inspection and Enforcement, Ikharo Attah explained that while Enforcement team will not be concerned with operators who limit their activities within commercial places, those who constitute nuisance and a security threat will be removed.
